Humble Administrator’s Garden is one of the most famous Suzhou gardens in china. Its classical and elegant scene perfectly integrates the natural beauty and human nature impressing people deeply.
The Humble Administrator’s Garden is designed with the traditional Chinese concept “heaven and human in one” (Sha, 2008, p.10). Chinese Garden is often called symbolic garden with natural style, while this symbolism mostly means a natural result of abstraction (Wang et al., 2004, p94). The Humble Administrator’s Garden can be seen as an ancient private heaven in the modern society because of its rich and ingenious combination of all kinds of landscape factors such as mountain with pavilion, pool with lotus, river with bridge and even forest with grass. It can be seen that the space is fully applied for the layout of the garden. To pursue the natural beauty the natural factors like mountain, river and forest which are made with great care or chosen from the real nature are vividly built. The garden is designed with fully considering human’s feeling, for example, the pavilion is set up among the mountain, pool and bridge, so people can sit talking and enjoying the scenery. What’s more, the tea table and seats made by stone are located in the center of the pavilion for the host to drink tea with his guests and friends considering the tea custom and tea culture. When walking in the garden, people can clearly feel its ancient cultural atmosphere.
The Humble Administrator’s Garden has a high artistic value and it provides a strong reference for global people who work on landscape design.
