At the end of the semester, you will turn in a persuasive 5-paragraph essay. We will work on this essay for the rest of the semester. You must choose a topic and develop a thesis statement that you will develop into your essay. It is very important to choose a topic that you will enjoy researching and writing about during the rest of the semester.

Before choosing a topic, make sure you read and understand the packet of information about topic selection and thesis statements. Topics and thesis statements should be creative. Remember, you cannot persuade an audience if they already agree with you. You should not write about topics that everyone knows about.
