2.0 What events led to changes in American families?
The Supreme Court overturned any laws against interracial marriage as unconstitutional in 1967. Black and white can have a legal marriage. Since then, from different races of people all over the world influx of the United States of America, the number of interracial marriages, the United States of America family has also become more diversified; isolation between the races is gradually reduced. Also in sixty years, in order to change their social status and circumstances, the women's liberation movement began. A woman's duty not only to take care of the family and children, but to work and earn money, plays an irreplaceable role in society.
3.0 Social and family how to influence each other?
Although interracial marriage has been the United States legal support, but this phenomenon is not universally accepted by Americans, against the voice still echoes in some areas. “It might be expected that the family is the source of the greatest hostility toward interracial relationships” (Erica C. Childs: “Navigating Interracial Borders”). Whether white or colored family, are of dissimilar intermarriage has concerns. People because of culture, habits, and beliefs and so on, do not trust the other races. People also fear that dissimilar intermarriage was born the next generation, will be discriminated in their family race parents, no status. Even if the interracial marriage can be completed, a couple of big family to give the economic and emotional supports but not much. So, the United States interracial marriage in the changes of a few years, gradually accepted by the people, dissimilar intermarriage number is slowly rising, however, these heterogeneous group of families are faced with many difficulties and challenges. They look really racial integration time.
On the other hand, Many Americans believe that male dominated everything, just like reality show "The Bachelor":“The series adds to the harem structure the notion of choice: the women’s willingness is bolstered by the paradigm of choice since the women are told that they can choose either to leave or to stay and accept the will of the bachelor”(Rachel E. Dubrofsky: “The Bachelor”). Most Americans also still think men should be responsible for the main responsibility outside the home, women who are responsible for the home. They believe that women work if go out to work, family life and children will be affected. Along with the gender equality is accepted by the Americans, discuss gender roles began, suggesting that the family of gender role will remain a potential source of conflict. This is particularly important in the families with children is. Separation of home and workplace, with gender equality principle and the child and family responsibilities, go out to earn money for the family for many American families is a long-term problem. “Gender is configured through cross-cutting forms of difference that carry deep social and economic consequences”(Maxine B. Zinn et.al “Sex and Gender Through the Prism of Difference”). And people rely on work and child care social problem solving, may also become public long-term issues.
4.0 What is our attitude towards social issues?
Society is a collection of people, but also the relationship between the people set. Human activity creates society, and society is constantly affecting people. People look at the society from different angles have different views. Views on social issues are also diverse. For example, in the United States, the issue of homosexuality is a political and cultural topic extremely sensitive, mainly because of the issue of homosexuality and homosexual and controversial in a weak position. People's attitudes toward homosexuality and some differences, some people can not accept homosexuality, some people can accept homosexuality, but can not accept to legalize gay marriage. “It is but a short step from positioning lesbians and gay men somewhere beyond the family to portraying them as a menace to family and society. A person or group must first be outside and other in order to invade, endanger, and threaten”(Kath Weston: “Straight Is to Gay as Family Is to No Family”). Social existence and development is fundamental to each class and social groups of interests are protected, ignore gay rights, and social goal is to draw further apart. We should be tolerant of homosexuality, they like us, should enjoy basic human rights. Recognition of gay rights, to protect their interests, is the human represent the general trend. “in a society that marginalizes Black masculinity, the Black barbershop acts as a safe place for men to congregate, socialize, and reject oppressive stereotyped notions of masculinity”(Kristen Barber: “The Well-Coiffed Man”). Gay as the blacks, struggling in her own little world.#p#分頁標(biāo)題#e#
Whether personal or social, the correct method is to social diversity perspective as the basic view of society. The basic point of view is to rely on it to improve our understanding level, extension of vision. We want to understand the social value judgment and fact judgment in what circumstances is bound, in what circumstances is distinguished. The government and the individual needs of pure objective to bring social diversity, subjective cling to old ideas, only with reality. For example, most Americans to reduce American society are getting worse due to the "nuclear family". Affected by the economic downturn and high unemployment rate, more and more colored father "disappear", and their children live in single-parent households, the lack of care and education, as a social instability. The Americans accuse black, Latino high divorce rate and their family problems are confused. In this problem, people have no objective to see the influence of economy and culture on colored family. “Social policies that overlook extended family obligations may introduce, reproduce, or even increase class racial/ethnic inequalities. To create unbiased, inclusive policy, we must attend to the realities and practices of families and the care they actually give and receive rather than confine our policies to narrow biological or conjugal conceptions of who should count as family”(Naomi Gerstel: “Rethinking Families and Community”).
5.0 How can our society benefit from the diversity in society?
“The sociological perspective enables us to grasp the connections between history and biography” (C. Wright Mills). Society will realize: the development of natural and social production of human is not balanced; lead to the diversity of human social development, there is a long process of development and unity in its relative. Be anxious for success, can only run counter to one's desire, the contradiction between ethnic, national, religious, gender etc... Tolerance, equality and economic and cultural exchanges, help, it is more conducive to the development of human society.
Facing the proportion of ethnic minorities in the national total population continues to increase, the American tendency of this population change accepted. For one of the ethnic diversity of every ethnic group, is in contact with each other, each other, each other by marriage, "many people" appearance is the most typical results, is a product of racial integration.
LGBT is still the vulnerable groups of society, discrimination is like an invisible net, enveloped them. But on the other hand, LGBT not only increased in number, but also began to play a role in the political arena, diversity of social trends.

The complete liberation of women is still not the end. The status of women in the political, economic, education is lagging behind men. Investigate its reason, is because the long-term sexual concept. “colonial regimes routinely manipulated ideas about sexuality in order to maintain unjust power relations”(Patricia H. Collins: “Prisons for Our Bodies, Closets for Our Minds”). Therefore, women how to use the number of advantages, and running for their own interests, is one of the important issues they face.
6.0 How and when should we be concerned about the level of diversity?
Although the United States race a lot, but there is only one kind of mainstream culture, ethnic culture can only be assimilated and absorbed, in this country, immigrants are mainstream social assimilation is history. Immigrants hope so, they want to be part of the United States of America, and the United States of America want is all immigrants wanted. Yet the historical process from the United States, the United States of America society's racial diversity, cultural diversity is the inevitable trend of development. Social diversity is the product of social evolution, but also the consequences of human construction, so we must through their own "construction" to grasp the social diversity. “We aim to analyze relationships between people and society as a means of understanding diversity” (class materials). From now on, we will respect human rights on the basis of objective, in history on the basis of analysis of reasons, tolerance and not afraid of social diversity.
