Learning Aims
The learning aims that will be examined in this piece of resit coursework are as follows:
· To provide critical analysis of operations' transformation processes in an operations setting
· To evaluate the impact of operations on performance imperatives including, for example, quality, speed, dependability, flexibility and cost
· To communicate ideas persuasively regarding key operations issues
Task
Write an account (2500 words) that compares and contrasts the operations of two organisations and their service/product offering in one of the following sectors:
- Personal Computers (PCs)
- Travel
- Ready Meals
- Aircraft Manufacture
For each of your organisations you should identify:
a) the market in terms of performance objectives;
b) key transformation processes used in their operations;
c) Operations Management concepts/theories/techniques underpinning these transformation processes.
You should conclude your account by noting the key differences between each organisation’s approach.
