1、突出專業(yè)原則
同學(xué)們要對(duì)自己申請(qǐng)的專業(yè)領(lǐng)域有一定的認(rèn)識(shí)和了解。在你的個(gè)人陳述和RL里首先要寫大量的專業(yè)性的東西，如寫RL的時(shí)候尤其要以指導(dǎo)老師的口吻寫很多你做實(shí)驗(yàn)的細(xì)節(jié)性的東西，并且說明你如何解決過程中的問題。因?yàn)檎l都可以說自己做了什么很難的東西，可是如何讓對(duì)方信服，就看這些細(xì)節(jié)性的東西了。
2、個(gè)性原則
突出自己的優(yōu)勢(shì)，展示自己的個(gè)性。當(dāng)你坐在計(jì)算機(jī)前開始寫作的時(shí)候，你一定要想清楚自己是什么樣的人，自己有什么優(yōu)點(diǎn)。如果你不能讓對(duì)方相信你的聰明和愛因斯坦是同數(shù)量級(jí)的(這種人指的是畢業(yè)于名校，GPA在3.8以上)，那么你就應(yīng)該讓他相信你的勤奮或是堅(jiān)韌的毅力與阿甘相比有過之而無不及，當(dāng)然你也可以想出你的其他優(yōu)點(diǎn)。不過，你也不要把我的意思弄擰了，我并不是說，你不能說自己是聰明的，而是說，你或許可以著更多的筆墨在你的勤奮上。畢竟，聰明僅僅是成功的一個(gè)因素，而你的毅力，合作力等等可能是成功更重要的因素。
3、優(yōu)勢(shì)突出原則和實(shí)話原則
如你曾經(jīng)獲得過什么獎(jiǎng)勵(lì)，獲得過什么特殊的機(jī)會(huì)是一定要寫明白的。還有你的最有說服力的優(yōu)勢(shì)，就是你發(fā)表的dissertation。你的文章是在什么雜志上發(fā)表的，這個(gè)雜志有沒有被SCI收錄，SCI影響因子是多少，也一定要寫清楚。這可是重頭戲，對(duì)你的錄取有極大幫助。所以大家千萬不要小看你的文章，而且如果有可能的話，盡量往國(guó)外雜志上發(fā)。
4、自信原則
西方人喜歡自我表現(xiàn)，他們喜歡自信的人。不管你是寫個(gè)人陳述，還是去見簽證官，或是以后在課堂上做presentation，你都要牢記這個(gè)原則。所以自信原則是貫穿于你的PS始終的。你要象展示你的傳家寶一樣自信的向他們展示你閃光點(diǎn)，也要以expert的語氣大談你做過的課題。所有你的這些語氣，都會(huì)為你贏得不少分?jǐn)?shù)的。

As a child I often accompanied my father to his small coin shop and spent hours watching him work. When I was older, I sometimes set up displays, waited on customers, and even balanced the books. This complexity requires more education, and with that in mind, I am applying to the Master’s of Business Administration program at Indiana University Bloomington (IUB).

Further, as an assistant manager at the Showplace 11 and a staff coordinator at the SRSC, I have gained valuable expertise in managing employees and creating work schedules. Both of these positions have allowed me to develop my sales and people skills, which are extremely important in an increasingly service-driven marketplace.
