英國個人陳述寫作要點分析(附優秀范文)

近年來留學人數不斷增加,留學文書的重要性不斷增加,很多留學平臺以及dissertation平臺推出了大量的寫作攻略、寫作模板。雖然這些攻略給實際寫作帶來了很多幫助,但由于使用的人過多,導致很多個人陳述看起來相似,影響申請結果。英國教育看上去非常嚴謹,注重學生的學術氛圍與成就。實際上從今年英國的申請來看,無論是滿懷留學夢想的莘莘學子,還是想錄取到人才的國外院校教授,都希望能看到一篇嚴謹,充分展現自己專業學術能力并且有新意的個人陳述。
如何寫英國留學個人陳述
如同學術經歷一樣,我們要先確定學校希望申請者具備什么樣的能力。結合申請者本身的工作或者實習經驗,尋找兩者的交叉點,從交叉點出發,也就是從所收獲的技能或者能力出發,將工作經歷或者實習經歷很好的融入到整個PS中。例如,如果申請者有意申請學校的teaching assistant,那么恰好申請者之前有過助教經歷,申請者可以將自己的助教經歷中所學到,觀察到的,感悟到的寫進PS中,讓錄取官看到申請者的實力與潛力。下面我將對個人成熟具體寫作過程的一個全新的闡述。
首先,一個PS不是個人經歷散亂的羅列,吸引人的PS需要有一個連貫的主題
主題一定是貫穿全文的,以主題為中心,選擇恰當的經歷,查看申請者資料的時候,問自己以下問題:這件事例展示了他的那些方面?哪些性格?哪些品質?事例有什么特殊之處?重要性體現在哪?事例怎樣讓他脫穎而出?用這樣的方式,挖掘事例的深度,而不是延伸事例的廣度。原因在于,許多錄取官發現中國的申請者往往喜歡羅列個人經歷,而忽視了經歷的細節,不同經歷之間缺乏關聯,也就是說缺乏一個中心的主題,導致文章散亂、缺乏條理性,自然而然,錄取官不想花費時間在這樣的PS上
其次,自述的主題和主線可以根據學生某方面的與專業相關的特點或特長來確定,并且將其整個學習生涯中的經歷貫穿其中
比如:堅持不懈的精神(如研究類、工程類)、長于與人交流(如市場營銷類)、善于觀察想象(如設計藝術類)等等,亦可以為學生對專業的特別認識等,比如:世界金融形勢給從業者帶來的特殊要求(金融類)、中國設計行業所欠缺的品質及應對方法(設計類)、管理者應具備的品質及自身在這些方面所付出的努力與取得的成果(管理類),此外,對于轉專業申請的學生,可以拿學生國內所學專業與擬申請專業之間的節點作為文章的主線,比如某學生本科所學專業為英語,欲申請傳媒類專業,其節點可以為communication“語言是人與人之間的溝通,媒體是人與團體、團體與社會之間的溝通”。簡單的羅列學生的申請理由、專業優勢等等很容易使文章如同一盤散沙,難以找到主題,而且容易趨同。畢竟學生經歷的區別不會很大,同一個寫作者不大可能羅列出太多的特點將一個學生與另一個學生區別開來。#p#分頁標題#e#

It isn’t because the only thing they desire is to sleep a few extra hours, as many would presume. No, these kids are groggy and irritable because they are waking up to what they think will be another horribly boring day of school. If one of these foolish Sallys or Joes were, say, sleeping comfortably on a Saturday morning, I could certainly see something different happening. A beautiful breakfast of tantalizing vittles—eggs, hash browns, and the like—would be ready and waiting for them on their kitchen tables.
